Did you catch last night’s episode of ‘Empire’?
During the show, Jamal Lyon inked a major deal with Pepsi after being named the brand’s next breakthrough artist, marking the first integration in Pepsi’s real-life deal with the series.
Over the next few shows we’ll get to watch ‘in time’ as Jamal Lyon develops his song and video for the brand. On December 2nd, Jamal’s finished commercial will air within the show.

Singer/actor Jussie Smollett will star in a second commercial, replicating the “Jamal” version that will air on Fox outside of the show. Jussie’s commercial was directed by Empire co-creator Lee Daniels.
The commercial’s original song “Ready to Go” was written and produced by Swizz Beatz.
“The track starts with a slow walk,” explains Beatz, “to focus attention on Jussie/Jamal’s vocals and the emotion of what he’s singing about — being ready to go to the next level. Then it crescendos into this burst of energy.”
We can’t wait to see and hear the final, packaged product! Jussie’s debut solo album is due out on Columbia Records sometime in 2016.
