Pose star Indya Moore has called out Ryan Murphy for being silent on trans attacks.Moore shared a video on her Instagram where she spoke about the attacks on transgender people in the USA. The actress spoke about how trans people are increasingly seen as ‘terr*rists’ and a threat while also being stripped of their rights. After thanking people who support trans people, Moore called out Murphy: “The fact that Ryan Murphy has been so silent? Like, we really p*ssed you off that much, Ryan? Like, Ryan Murphy, who upset you that much? Janet p*ssed you off that much?” Moore was referring to Janet Mock’s speech at the premiere for Pose’s final season, where they said: “How is it that you can do something like Pose during the Donald Trump administration, then it’s like… Poof… It’s gone. It’s like garbage. It’s like an embarrassment. Like, that’s how it feels.” Moore continued: “We need help. Trans people need help.” #indyamoore #ryanmurphy #trumpadministration #transrights #pose

Moore took to her social media about the lack of support for trans people in the U.S. right now in a teary 30-minute live. During that time, she calls out Murphy, the creator of many popular shows, including the hit series “Pose.”

“The fact that Ryan Murphy has been this silent… like, we really pissed you off that much, Ryan? Who upset you that much, Janet [Mock] really pissed you off that much,” Moore asked.

“How is it that you can do something like ‘Pose’ during the Donald Trump administration, then it’s like…Poof…It’s gone,” she added. “It’s like garbage. It’s like an embarrassment. Like, that’s how it feels.”

She later told Murphy that “we need you to do more.”

“You need to address the racism, the violence, and the targeting of people on your productions … you do need to make sure trans people are paid equally,” she continued.

Moore also pressed the LGBTQIA+ community to show up for trans people in real, consistent ways. They spoke about how safety feels fragile and said solidarity should be lived, not performed. At other moments, Moore questioned the reasoning behind trans bathroom bans and urged fellow artists to stop staying quiet when people’s rights are under attack. They shared that the weight of it all has left them considering life in another country where they might feel safer and more accepted.

Community Reaction and Silence from Ryan Murphy

As of now, Murphy has not responded to Moore’s tearful pleas. However, others, including actress and trans activist Laverne Cox, have reached out in support of her video.

Moore’s video also reopened old criticism of Murphy’s work on queer themes. According to PinkNews, his recent series “Monster” faced backlash for its portrayal of Anthony Perkins. Viewers called it “tasteless,” saying it linked Perkins’ closeted sexuality to violent behavior. After the show’s release, many took to social media to express their frustration.

“Ryan Murphy is so tasteless to me, man. If you’re going to do a Anthony Perkins biopic, do a Anthony Perkins biopic and give him the respect he deserves. But you comparing Ed Gein being a closeted killer to him being a closeted gay man is homophobia,” @Adhdbarbiee wrote on X.

“Episode two of Ed Gein show pushing the narrative that Anthony Perkins was chosen to play Norman Bates because Alfred Hitchcock thought Perkins was like Gein because of Perkins’ sexuality… Ryan Murphy, hell is hot,” another user commented on the series on X.

By calling out Murphy, Moore indirectly tied these past controversies to the present moment. Their livestream highlighted the ongoing need for creators like Murphy to use their influence responsibly and to support the communities their work represents.

Moore’s message came from a place of exhaustion and love. They want Murphy to stand with the trans community the same way he did when “Pose” first aired, not just when it was beneficial. The conversation now sits with Murphy and with Hollywood at large.
