Earlier this week, Twitter had fun at the expense of TLC and their delayed Kickstarter album. After #TLCIsGoingToJailParty trended on Twitter, T-Boz is spoke out in defense of the group and criticized Black Twitter for making an issue out of nothing.

She spoke on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, saying:

“We’ve sent emails to [everybody who donated] and then on top of that we’ve done a press release. I refuse to address ignorance because there’s a lot of followers out there. They hear one comment, jump on the bandwagon and then fail to do their research.”

She continued:

“That’s the problem I find disappointing especially with our people. It’s mostly our people doing it, you don’t ever see other races on the Internet dogging people out the way Black people do each other. It’s embarrassing and it’s unfortunate to me.”

T-Boz also took aim at blogs for making the story bigger than what it was.

“People who report the news, it’s just not the way it used to be. They just rather report the trash. They know we did the press release but they don’t want to report that part. They just want to report the bad and then it becomes this other thing, and then it just keeps going because social media has given a lot of people a voice who probably shouldn’t have one.”
