Former Walmart Employee Charged After Driving Car Through North Carolina Store

A former Walmart employee drove through a Concord, North Carolina store at 6 a.m. on Friday morning — and now he’s facing some pretty serious charges.

via Complex:

The man, 32-year-old Lacy Cordell Gentry, was arrested after plowing a vehicle through the front entrance of his former place of work. Gentry was reportedly fired sometime within the last week, and while authorities didn’t reveal the reason for his actions, they did say he might have been unhappy with management.

Gentry is now facing two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, felony breaking and entering, two misdemeanor counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and additional charges due to the property damage. He was also hit with two outstanding warrants, unrelated to this incident. He’s being held in county jail with a bail of $100,000.

No one was injured in the crash. The store was set to open at 7 a.m. on Friday but will be closed due to the damage. A Walmart employee said that after Gentry drove through the entrance, he continued to drive around the store as all the employees ran out. The car was reportedly very damaged, as was the inside of the store.

“If you take a car through a Walmart, there’s going to be a lot of damage,” a police official said. “Aisles aren’t wide enough [for a car] so there’s a lot of property damage.”

It’s a miracle no one was hurt.
