“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Katie Rost and her fiancé, Jesse, have called off their engagement.
The end of their relationship comes just four months after he proposed.

“We’re broken up,” she told us over the phone on Wednesday. “It wasn’t anything too overly dramatic — it was more so like a car running out of gas.”
Rost, 39, said she and Jesse, whose last name has not been revealed, had a conversation right before Thanksgiving about what their future holds, but they appeared to be on different pages.
“He wanted certain things right away, and I was just, like, I have so many other things that I need to focus on, and so I need to pause,” she said.
The reality star is embroiled in a contentious legal battle with her ex-husband, Dr. James Orsini, over the custody of their three children: a son named James Rocco and twin daughters Renee and Kathryn.
Rost said in the new year, she may finally make some headway in the case, and so part of her decision to break things off with Jesse, 37, was so she could move back to the East Coast to be near her kids, since she’d been living in LA with him.
“I have the appeal that apparently they’re going to read it, finally, in January,” she told us. “It’s taken so long, but I feel like I just need to be here, closer, and be able to do whatever I have to do next with that.”
Rost said Jesse was more focused on wanting to start his own family with the “RHOP” star, and so she told him, “Oh, I have to deal with the children I already have.”
“I can’t do that again, so I needed to just wait,” she said, adding that she is also focused on her writing projects. “I just don’t know if I want to go into straight-up wife mode right now.”
Although the split was Rost’s decision and she claims Jesse “didn’t want me to leave,” the reality star said the exes are on still friendly terms. However, she is giving herself some space from the relationship and the pair are not in direct contact.
“He does speak to me through my mom,” Rost shared. “He’ll send her a message and is like, ‘How’s Katie doing?’ She kind of gives him updates. I feel like if we were to talk, we’d end up right back together.”
Rost is open to a reconciliation in the future with Jesse, but is also keeping an open mind when it comes to dating.
“I think I’m good with just doing what I’m doing. I mean I’d go out on a date, but … don’t get me in trouble,” she said with a laugh.
Rost and Jesse got engaged in July after just five months of dating. The IT businessman proposed with an heirloom ring made of gold, sapphire and diamonds that belonged to his late mother.
He previously told Page Six of his then-fiancée, “Katie is an amazing person. She is amazing, loving and has a huge, big heart.”
Katie’s going through a LOT right now — so we wish her the best.
