‘Essence’ Honors Black Women in Hollywood [Photos]

Essence Magazine honored black women in Hollywood at the Beverly Wilshire Thursday afternoon.

Lupita Nyong’o was on hand to present the cast of Orange Is the New Black with the Vanguard Award; Selma‘s David Oyelowo honored Gugu Mbatha-Raw with the Lincoln Breakthrough of the Year Award; Regina King was presented with the Fierce and Fearless Award; and Ava DuVernay presented costume designer Ruth E. Carter with the final award of the night: the Visionary Award.

Shonda Rhimes, Kelly Rowland, Tia Mowry, Tracee Ellis Ross, John Legend, Common and so many more attended the emotional luncheon.

The event is set to air on February 21 on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
