Congratulations are in order.

Their win marks the first Golden Globe for both Common and John Legend.

Following their win, Common gave a rousing acceptance speech, briefly touching on the recent shooting deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and two NYPD officers.

“… I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand, but was instead given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers murdered in the line of duty. ‘Selma’ has awakened my humanity.”

During their acceptance speech, a drawn-out “Yeeessssss!” could be heard from the audience, thanks to Oprah who appears in the film
