Chance the Rapper Drops 4 New Songs, Announces Purchase of ‘Chicagoist’

Chance the Rapper didn’t drop a new album this week as rumored, but he DID drop four new songs.

In one of the songs — “I Might Need Security” — Chance announced that he purchased fledgling news website Chicagoist.

“I bought the Chicagoist,” Chance said on the track. The deal was between WNYC, who purchased Chicagoist earlier this year, and Chance the Rapper’s Social Media LLC.

“I’m extremely excited to be continuing the work of the Chicagoist, an integral local platform for Chicago news, events and entertainment,” Chance said in a statement. “WNYC’s commitment to finding homes for the -ist brands, including Chicagoist, was an essential part of continuing the legacy and integrity of the site. I look forward to re-launching it and bringing the people of Chicago an independent media outlet focused on amplifying diverse voices and content.”

In addition to these four tracks, Chance also said that he’s working in Chicago this month with Kanye West on a 7-song album.
