Joe Budden may have finally gotten a plaque for his big hit of the 2000s, “Pump It Up,” but it seems he’s still better known for his biting criticism. His latest target is Cardi B’s new single “Bongos,” which features Megan Thee Stallion.

Cardi has issued a response to Joe Budden after the podcast host criticized her latest single, “Bongos.”
Speaking on Instagram Live, the Bronx native shared her belief that the veteran rapper has something against her, not the music. In his critique, Budden called the song featuring Megan Thee Stallion “contrived” and a “science project.”
“I just feel like he has an issue with me,” detailed the “Bodak Yellow” rapper per HipHopDX. “And it was beyond the critique of ‘Bongos’ — it’s just you inviting bi**hes who said the rudest, nastiest sh*t … when Mal and Rory say f**k sh*t about you, you get so defensive and you want to clear it up.”
She continued, “You came at Taxstone because Taxstone said something about you. You expect people to understand you and you expect people to take your side.”
The “Pump It Up” performer responded to Cardi B’s allegations on The Joe Budden podcast, citing his past praise of her work.
“Don’t play with me like that because y’all know I f**k with Cardi,” he said. “But I stand on what I said about the song. And I said it pretty respectfully.”
He continued, “I ain’t here to shatter nobody’s dreams… For me, it’s if I didn’t hear nothing from none of y’all the nine million times I bigged you up, I definitely don’t want to hear from you the one time I didn’t.”
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion issued “Bongos” earlier this month, the duo’s first collaboration since “W.A.P.” broke the internet in 2020. The colorful video, directed by Tanu Muino, features choreography, outfit changes, and product placements from Casamigos Tequila, Minute Maid Aguas Frescas, and Smart Sweets Peach Rings.
“I don’t care where you from/ Better beat this sh*t like a drum/ Don’t be talkin’ sh*t like you know me/ I ride d*ck like a pony, girl/ That ni**a look like a brokey/ Go and f**k with his homie,” raps the mother of two.
