Beyoncé and Jay Z’s On the Run HBO special is coming up on Saturday. In support of the show, they’ve released Part One of their Bang Bang mini-film.

The visual was directed by photographer/filmmaker Dikayl Rimmasch.

Inspired by “French new wave cinema and the powerful intimacy of legendary independent director and mentor Les Blank,” the captivating clip sees the two hitting the dusty trail for some high-speed car rides (and a quick diner stop) in the vintage 2-minute clip — and yes, there’s an underlying meaning to this duo’s Bonnie & Clyde-esque styling.

From the NOWNESS interview with the director:

“In my first conversation on the telephone with Jay Z he explained his concept of On the Run. He said: ‘We’re not trying to do this literally, it’s not that we’re Bonnie and Clyde. We’re on the run from everything. On the run from becoming a cliché. On the run from doing the same thing again.’ Everything he mentioned was a level of consciousness he has for staying alive as an entertainer and as a human being. He wanted to keep it more abstract because for him it was very abstract. How do you stay new, not just to your audience but also yourself?”

Take a look below! Be sure to tune in this Saturday  to HBO to watch Beyoncé & Jay Z’s On The Run tour special.
