Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett walked into a Republican-led hearing about transgender athletes on Wednesday, May 7, and flipped the script! She refused to dignify bad-faith fearmongering with fake decorum. Instead, she brought receipts and a headline-worthy game called “Trump or trans,” reminding everyone who’s really been wrecking the country.

Crockett didn’t come to play, but if Republicans were going to waste her time, she was going to make it count. So, she clapped back with a game of “Trump or trans” to prove that trans people weren’t and aren’t the ones who caused Trump’s destructive first 100 days in office.
Before launching the game, she had one question for Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center, during Graves’ testimony at the subcommittee’s “Unfair Play: Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports“ hearing.
“You ready?“ Crockett asked.
The congresswoman wanted Graves to answer whether it was trans individuals or President Donald Trump who was responsible for a series of actions.

Witness Goss Graves answered, “Trump.“ She kept the momentum going, asking who kidnapped Americans and sent them to foreign countries “a.k.a. deporting them.“ Again, Graves didn’t miss a beat. As Crockett listed more offenses: driving the country into a recession, waging a senseless tariff war, ignoring the Constitution, slashing health care, firing public servants who safeguard the nation, and fueling a culture of hate — Graves repeatedly answered with the same name: Trump.

Crockett used the moment to pivot, calling out the absurdity of targeting trans people while ignoring actual government waste, abuse, and mismanagement that deserved real oversight.
We Stan A Queen With Visual Aids
In true “Jasmine Crockett“ fashion, she used a visual aid to illustrate her point: Trump is wasting millions of taxpayer dollars to go golfing!
“In fact, President Trump is on pace to spend more than a billion dollars of taxpayer dollars just on golfing. Yet the Republicans have been silent,“ she declared.
“So they must think spending taxpayer dollars on the president’s golfing trips is more important than providing health care to their constituents.”
So, how much has Trump spent playing golf? According to People magazine, as of the end of March, Trump has cost taxpayers $26 million on golfing excursions.

Donald Trump wasted no time attacking trans people once he returned to the White House. Within his first 100 days, he signed an executive order banning gender-affirming care for minors nationwide. It was a sweeping move that overrode state protections and criminalized doctors. He greenlit investigations into parents who support their trans kids, branding them as “abusers“ and empowering Child Protective Services to tear families apart.
Trump didn’t just target individuals; he turned the entire federal government into a weapon against trans existence. He also pulled Department of Education funding from schools that allowed trans students to use facilities aligning with their gender identity, framing it as a “return to American values.”
Trump ordered Health and Human Services to redefine “sex“ in all federal policy as “biological and immutable,“ effectively erasing legal recognition of trans people across agencies. He reinstated a military ban on trans service members and revoked federal workplace protections, giving bosses free rein to fire trans employees. He encouraged red-state governors to escalate the attacks by promising legal cover and federal grants.
The Pettiest Clapback Was Also the Most Necessary
Jasmine Crockett’s “Trump or trans“ game exposed the sham behind Republican priorities. While the GOP whips up hysteria over who plays what sport, Trump bulldozes civil rights, tanks the economy, and targets marginalized communities with military precision. And as usual, Crockett refused to sit silently while trans people got scapegoated for problems they didn’t cause. She dragged the hearing back to reality, where the real threat wasn’t a swimmer. It’s a twice-impeached president who keeps lighting the country on fire and daring us not to notice.
