When most of us break our cellphones, our only option is to trash it and buy another one. But when Rihanna breaks a cellphone, she gets to sell it on eBay for more than $1,000…although it doesn’t work.

While watching the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Staples Center last weekend, the pop singer went to snap a selfie advertising her LAPD wristband, with LA Commission President Steve Soboroff, only to drop his iPhone and crack the screen.

I told her that a photo with us wearing LAPD wristbands would bring a huge needed smile to the faces of our 10,000 men and women LAPD officers. I hand her my iPhone [to take a selfie], as she knows how to do it. Trying to pose and show the wristbands was tough, and her hands were full anyways, so the phone fell on the floor, Soboroff said.

In exchange for breaking his cell, Rihanna autographed the back so that he could auction it on eBay to help raise funds for underserved children in the LAPD Cadet program and for officers fallen in the line of duty.

The caption reads:

Sorry I [heart] LAPD, Rihanna

Bidding for the iPhone begins at $250. The commissioner hoped to raise at least $10,000, but Rihanna decided to donate $25,000 of her own money to the Los Angeles Police Foundation.
