Wendy Williams’ Sept. 20 Premiere Reportedly Uncertain Amid Health-Related Hiatus [Video]

Will Wendy Williams recover in time to take her purple chair for the ‘Wendy Williams Show’ premiere on Sept. 20?

That’s the question on Wendy staff minds this week.

“People are tight-lipped about it, but there are whispers that she won’t be there,” one Wendy source told us.

Production staff returned to the office last week, but the 57-year-old “How You Doin?” host has not been back to the studio since she’s been on hiatus, we’re told.

She announced on Thursday that she would have to cancel all appearances next week to promote her show due to health problems.

“Wendy is dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations. She will not be able to complete her promotional activities next week, but can’t wait to be back on her purple chair on Monday, September 20th for the 13th season premiere,” a statement posted on the show’s Instagram read.

On Friday, video footage showed an exhausted-looking Williams arriving to her apartment building wearing blue hospital socks and a robe, escorted by her manager Bernie Young.

Williams has been candid with her audience about her health, including her ongoing battle with Graves’ Disease.

In 2019, a slew of guest hosts including Nick Cannon, Jerry O’Connell and Sherri Shepherd filled in for her as she stepped away to treat the disease.

Another show insider, however, insisted “Sept. 20 is the premiere” and that there are currently no talks of guest hosts filling in for Williams when the show returns.

We’re wishing Wendy the best and that she gets well soon.
