Fresh after performing in Washington, D.C., Kelly Rowland stopped by 93.9 WKYS for a quick interview. During the interview she opened up about her sisterly bond with Beyoncé and Michelle, why exactly she broke down during an emotional performance of “Dirty Laundry”, and what happened when she played the song for Beyoncé.

Check out some highlights below.

On what Beyoncé thought of “Dirty Laundry”:

It was the place that I was in…I was so young.  My head was completely gone.  That’s what happened with my sister.  What matters to me most is what we have.  I’m so grateful for what we have as sisters…away from Destiny’s Child.  I played it (“Dirty Laundry”) for her and Michelle.  Beyonce said, “I never left”.

On her emotional “Dirty Laundry” breakdown:

It’s really weird when you take yourself out of being in front of a crowd. In that moment, even the way I just sat up there and put my feet up, I felt like I was in therapy, and I was just sitting up there singing and talking and explaining what happened. It was like that crowd wasn’t even there for a second, and when the music stopped… I was like, ‘You are live Kell, Calm down.’ I had to calm down, and in the moment I was like, ‘Ok. Ugh, Breathe!’ I was sitting up there breathing and I was like, ‘Ok, don’t break down now…’ You get lost, and there’s nothing wrong with being lost, but that was weird. That won’t happen again. It’s very weird when that happens, but I felt like I could do that with D.C.
