Kelly Clarkson returned to the stage that launched her career last night for American Idol‘s final season.
She performed her song “Piece by Piece, which is about her dad abandoning her and how she’d never do that to her child. She wrote the song when she was pregnant with her daughter, and now she’s pregnant with her son — so it was an emotional moment for her.
It was an emotional moment for the audience too. As the camera pans around the room, nearly everyone is in tears — including Kelly, who had to stop a few times during the song to compose herself.
