Actor Terry Crews is always providing the over-the-top laughs, but the funny guy got serious when opening up to Wendy Williams about his lifelong addiction to pornography.
He said that his father was addicted to alcohol and his mother was addicted to religion, so an addictive environment contributed to his obsession.
“I was addicted to pornography since I was 12 years old,” he told Williams. “You go to the uncle’s house. It was always at the uncle’s basement.”
Unable to get it under control, his wife put him out…but they eventually worked through it.
“It was one of those things that took me away. It medicated me,” the actor said of his addiction.
“The pornography addiction turns into something else,” he says referring to the infidelity he wrote about in his memoir. “You can’t have something like that in your life without it growing into something else.”
He says he watched via the Internet so it wasn’t hard to keep from his wife for so many years.
“Let me tell you how powerful women are,” he says. “Men get addicted to looking at pictures of you. That’s how powerful women are.”
He and his wife have been together for 25 years, but it’s within the last 5 years that he’s been able to get his addiction under control.
