Halloween was extra frightful for one Michigan family after a father ran over his 3-year-old son — twice.
via NYDN:
The 36-year-old Muskegon dad was driving his Dodge Caravan with the minivan’s rear sliding doors open.
His sons — ages 3 and 7 — were sitting on the car floor with their legs hanging out, when the youngest boy somehow fell out of the vehicle.
Witnesses yelled at the father, causing him to stop the car and put it in reverse.
As the father drove backward, the boy’s lower extremities were run over — and crushed a second time when the father put the vehicle in drive.
The dad, who has not been charged or publicly identified, claims to have only been driving about 3 mph.
EMS rushed to the scene and brought the 3-year-old to Hackley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“We don’t think the father’s actions were intentional — just a bad decision on his part,” Captain John Wolffis told the Daily News.
The case is being reviewed by Ottawa County and Children’s Protective Services.
Thank God he’s alive. This could’ve ended a LOT worse.
