Prince’s Unfinished Memoir ‘The Beautiful Ones’ Set to Be Released This Fall

Prince’s estate announced that they have finally finished the memoir he was working on at the time of his death — and it’s set to drop this fall.

On Monday, Random House Publishing Company announced that they have brokered an exclusive partnership with Prince’s estate to publish the singer’s autobiography, ‘The Beautiful Ones.’

The book will be available for purchase on Oct. 29.

It will provide an introspective look into who Prince Rodgers Nelson was as a person as well as his rise as an electric entertainer. The novel will also feature never-before-seen material, including rare pictures, archived scrapbooks, and handwritten lyric sheets. While he is most known for his musical contributions, THE BEAUTIFUL ONES will also highlight the many facets of Prince’s creativity by incorporating the original treatment for his 1984 Oscar-winning film Purple Rain.

Unlike previous ventures, estate is assumedly operating within the desires of Prince’s legacy. Prior to his passing in 2016, Prince pitched and sold the rights to his memoirs to Random House. Prince preserved the material he wanted to include in his memoirs at Paisley Park, also the portions of the book Prince wrote before his death were integrated into THE BEAUTIFUL ONES.

“His death was an unfathomable loss, but this book—full of writing from his own hand and images that he carefully preserved at Paisley Park—is a beautiful tribute to his life,” Random House’s editor-in-chief Chris Jackson explained. “It’s also much more than that: it’s a genuinely moving and energizing literary work, full of Prince’s ideas and vision, his voice and image. It’s a treasure not just for Prince fans but for anyone who wants to see one of our greatest creative artists and original minds at work on his greatest creation: himself.”
