Going to the zoo can be a fun and exciting experience, but this family received a terrifying reminder that even animals in captivity can still be dangerous after nearly getting attacked by a silverback gorilla.
While observing the silverback gorillas, one little girl decided to ‘act like one’ by beating her chest. A few moments later, a gorilla looked over and charged full-force at the family — breaking the glass barrier between them.
While the incident sent the family running from the enclosure (as we all would have been), Henry Doorly General Curator Dan Cassidy of the Omaha Zoo says the gorilla, Kijito, only managed to crack one of the panes and the public was never really in danger.
