Not Surprised: Former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Isaiah Washington Comes Out as a Trump Supporter

Former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Isaiah Washington is opening up more about his continued support of President Trump.

via NYDN:

The former “Grey’s Anatomy” star doesn’t mind being a standout in an entertainment and arts industry that leans left, politically.

“You gotta know the power of no and walking away, not just from political situations or organizations for me, [is] a sacrifice, it’s a risk and there’s a penalty for it,” he said during a recent interview with Fox Nation’s “Nuff Said” host Tyrus on “Fox Nation.”

“But I will only walk away when it matters.”

The two-time NAACP Image Award winner chided entertainment types for hiding their true political identities and going along to get along.

“You got a lot of conservative or centric libertarian-minded people that really care about other people but they are terrified to come out of the closet and say anything that’s not in line with the Democratic party.”

“I’m going to support the policy over the person,” he mandated.

Washington, who was famously fired from the Shonda Rhimes-produced hit drama series for using a homophobic slur in 2007, took to social media in April to explain why he defected from his longtime political party association.

He felt slighted by the Obama administration, and embraced by Trump’s.

“I voted for 44 twice. I even checked my emails in his Senate office …,” he wrote. “Not once in 8 years was I given any support regarding Africa or the Black Agenda, but 45 invites me to the WH to celebrate the #FirstStepAct ?????”

The 55-year-old actor is an ardent supporter of the #WalkAway movement, a social media-based campaign encouraging people who feel left behind by the Democratic party to seek other alternatives, like the Republican party.

Washington believes that the Democrats are “not doing enough” for the black community and noted that Trump’s support for the First Step Act, a bipartisan prison reform bill that would reduce a prisoner’s sentence for good behavior and assist them to assimilate with society upon their release, was one of his main reasons for switching over to the Republican party.

He’s BEEN canceled.
