Gilbert Arenas took to Instagram to apologize to Lupita Nyong’o for coloris remarks he made a few years ago.
In 2017 Gilbert was tagged in an Instagram post of Lupita on a beach in Mexico with the person saying “@no.chill.gil hey looks it’s the black girl you said that looks better in the dar[k].”
Gilbert then responded, “@wg_bombshell_ everybody saying her(skin) looks beautiful how about her face tho?? Lights off.”
His comments were atrocious, but apparently he had an awakening amid the national conversation surrounding Blackness and has offered an apology.
“We can’t come together as a race until the idiots of the race (rights there wrongs),” he wrote on Instagram.
“My name is Gilbert and I was an IDIOT for attacking one of our queens for no reason @lupitanyongo (I’m truly sorry for my coon behavior) #blacklivesmatter”
