Former New England Patriots star and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez has committed suicide.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Correction, Aaron was found hanging in his cell at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center around 3:05 Wednesday morning and was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m.

“Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window,” [Department of Correction spokesman Christopher M.] Fallon said. “Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.”
The news of Aaron’s death comes just days after he was acquitted of double homicide.
Despite his acquittal, Aaron was already serving life in prison without the possibility of parole for a previous murder.
The former Patriots tight end was 27.
