Forest Whitaker, Anika Noni Rose and Derek Luke have joined the cast of A&E’s Roots miniseries.
The eight-hour remake will air over four nights, presumably sometime in 2016.
Forest will play Fiddler, a slave who seeks to mentor Kunta Kinte; Anika has been cast as Kunta’s daughter Kizzy; and Derek will portray Silla Ba Dibba, a military trainer who makes warriors out of a teenage boys.

True Blood‘s Anna Paquin and a bevy of newcomers have also boarded the miniseries, joining previously announced cast members Laurence Fishburne, English actor Malachi Kirby (Kunta Kinte) and more.
