‘America’s Got Talent’ announced Thursday that Sofia Vergara is replacing Gabrielle Union on ‘America’s Got Talent’ and former judge Heidi Klum is returning to the show for it’s 15th season.
They are being joined by other returning white male judges Simon Cowell, who is the show’s creator and executive producer, and Howie Mandel.
Host Terry Crews, who famously threw Gabrielle Union under the bus in the wake of her claims of racism and sexism during her stint on the show, is also returning.
As lovebscott.com exclusively reported, Gabrielle Union was fired after she complained of problematic racist and sexist behavior on the set of ‘AGT.’
In the days following lovebscott.com‘s bombshell revelation, NBC released several statements declaring the network’s commitment to diversity.
Well, sources exclusively tell lovebscott.com that Sofia’s hiring is nothing more than a way around addressing some of the anti-Black behaviors the network has been accused of and that “nothing has changed” behind the scenes.
“The proof is in the hiring. After all of [the backlash] surrounding their disapproval of Black hairstyles, they removed every strand of it,” NBC sources tell lovebscott.com. “They didn’t even bring Mel B back to complete the judges’ reunion. The only Black person on the show is Terry [Crews] and he’s bald and rides for the network. Aside from that, there are no more producers of color and the the production company running the show is still virtually all white.”
The source continues:
“They had a hard time finding someone to replace Gabrielle, but they cut Sofia a big enough check and she took the gig. Sofia Vergara is one of the highest-paid actresses — of any color — in television history.”
It appears as though NBC took a play straight out of the NFL’s playbook and they’re ignoring direct criticism of their treatment of Black people while still fulfilling their PR-friendly commitment to ‘diversity’ by using non-Black people of color instead. Shameful.
