Empire fans, rejoice!
Given Empire’s breakout success (“breakout success” is an understatement; Empire was a ratings behemoth during its first-season run), the powers that be at FOX have decided to expand the show’s second season. While its first season comprised 12 episodes, its second will add six more, bringing its total to 18 episodes.
Much like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, Empire’s second season will be split in half, with nine episodes to air this fall and the back nine next year.
Grammy winner Ne-Yo has also signed on to write new music with Timbaland for the musical drama.
Don’t leave yet, because it gets better.
While Lee Daniels has publicly expressed his desire to have Oprah and Denzel Washington appear during season two, he has already secured other huge talent. Empire has enlisted Alicia Keys, Chris Rock and Lenny Kravitz for guest starring roles in season two.
No clue if they’ll be playing themselves or if they’ll appear in multiple episodes, but huge deal.
Are you ready for Empire?
