Aretha Franklin Reportedly Died with Nearly $1 Million in Uncashed Checks

Aretha Franklin had nearly $1 million in uncashed checks at the time of her death a year ago.

via NYDN:

According to newly filed court documents, the checks were discovered when the late, great singer’s possessions were inventoried.

According to Billboard, there was one check made out to Franklin’s publishing company for just under $286,000, and another check from Sound Exchange and Screen Writers Guild for just under $702,000.

That’s just under $989,000 worth of uncashed checks.

Franklin was thought to have died without a will — leaving her four sons to split her estate equally.

This does not surprise us one bit.
