A North Carolina grandmother who reportedly lost custody of a 2-year-old child, lost her temper and opened fire in a Walmart parking lot on Thursday afternoon.

via FOX 8:

Police identified 42-year-old Sheila Marie Nougier as the shooter who opened fire in the Walmart parking lot in Randleman Thursday afternoon, according to police.

The incident, which occurred at about 3 p.m., stemmed from a custody battle, police say.

A judge granted custody of a 2-year-old to the child’s father instead of the grandmother Thursday morning. The father and grandmother had planned to meet at the Walmart parking lot to hand off the child.

Instead, the grandmother allegedly had a gun, pulled up and opened fire. The father was not injured by the gunfire.

The grandmother accidentally shot herself in the foot and is currently in the hospital.

The child is safe with the grandfather.

She is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of assault by pointing a gun, one count of discharging a firearm in city limits and one count injury to personal property.

Even if she DID manage to shoot the boy’s father, how did she expect to retain custody of her grandchild if she’s in prison for murder?
