Say What Now? Los Angeles Detective Faces More Than 70 Charges for Secretly Recording Men Using a Baseball Stadium Restroom

A Los Angeles police detective has been charged with secretly recording nearly 40 men inside the restroom at Angel Stadium —  all while he attended a game off-duty last month.

Ryan Caplette is facing 75 misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, including 37 counts of peeping with intent to invade privacy, 37 counts of secretly videotaping and one count of loitering, the Anaheim Police Department said in a statement on Friday.

The charges stem from an incident on June 8, the same day a man noticed the 42-year-old officer filming him as he used the baseball stadium bathroom. The victim then put him under citizens arrest and called the police.

Caplette was cited and released, but a subsequent search of his devices revealed dozens of recordings from inside the Angel Stadium bathroom and other undisclosed locations in Los Angeles.

A probe by Anaheim police concluded that Caplette allegedly managed to film 37 people without their knowledge, according to a law enforcement press release.

The detective had previously been relieved of his police powers pending the investigation’s outcome, a spokesman told the Los Angeles Times.

He’s slated to appear in court on July 22.

We wonder how many other days he did this and didn’t get caught. What a pervert.
