A spokesperson for Bill Cosby says that if the comedian were to catch COVID-19 in jail, he wouldn’t survive.

In the statement, Andrew V. Wyatt said the 82-year-old suffers from several health issues: partly blocked arteries, blindness due to glaucoma, and high blood pressures. He also recently had two major surgeries to avert cardiovascular failure.
Cosby was incarcerated in 2018 at the State Correctional Institution Phoenix in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, where 22 inmates and 13 staff members have tested positive for the virus. One inmate has died.
Wyatt’s statement arrived as reports surfaced that it was unlikely state prison officials would release Cosby, even amid the pandemic. But Wyatt still seemed hopeful, telling NBC News, “We truly believe that Mr. Cosby will be a direct beneficiary of Governor Wolf’s executive order.”
On April 10, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf instructed the Department of Corrections to relocate certain inmates to community corrections facilities or home arrest, with Wyatt seemingly thinking Cosby would be one of them.
However, on Thursday, it was revealed that the comedian and actor wouldn’t receive temporary release.
On Saturday, as Wyatt argued that coronavirus is deadly for the elderly, he said, “We are asking Governor Wolf to amend his executive order and grant Mr. Cosby Compassionate Relief based on his current medical status.”
Wyatt added, “Mr. Cosby was not given a life sentence nor a death sentence.”
Cosby was convicted in 2018 for aggravated indecent assault of Andrea Constand in 2004. He’s serving a three to 10-year sentence in the Pennsylvania state prison.
