Bill Cosby was interviewed by Weekend Edition host Scott Simon on Saturday and abruptly ended his interview after asking Bill straight up for comment regarding his resurfaced rape allegations.

Instead of using the opportunity to offer an explanation or defend his character, Bill chose to remain completely silent — only shaking his head.

From NPR’s transcript of the segment:

SIMON: This question gives me no pleasure Mr. Cosby, but there have been serious allegations raised about you in recent days.

[SILENCE]

SIMON: You’re shaking your head no. I’m in the news business. I have to ask the question. Do you have any response to those charges?

[SILENCE]

SIMON: Shaking your head no. There are people who love you who might like to hear from you about this. I want to give you the chance.

[SILENCE]

After the interview, the Associated Press reported that Bill canceled his upcoming appearance on this Wednesday’s Late Show with David Letterman.

Do you think Bill should speak on it, or continue to avoid talking about it?
