A huge congratulations is in order for Tracee Ellis Ross.
Following a successful and much talked about second season of ABC’s black-ish, the 44-year-old took home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy at tonight’s ceremony.
With her win, Tracee becomes the first black woman since Debbie Allen in 1983 to win in this category—a fact that Debbie pointed out earlier this week on Twitter when congratulating Tracee and Issa Rae on being nominated.

During her moving acceptance speech, Tracee thanked the women of color who’ve inspired her throughout her career: “This is for all of the women of color and colorful people whose stories, ideas, thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important.”
