Deion Sanders has won his child custody hearing.
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) – After two weeks of mudslinging testimony, the child custody hearing is over between former Dallas Cowboy and NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and his estranged wife Pilar.
A 12-member jury granted Deion sole custody and conservatorship of the couple’s 13 and 11-year old sons. The couple will share custody and conservatorship of their 9-year old daughter.
After the decision was announced, Deion tweeted the following: “Thank all of you whom prayed for me and my children. The Truth is what it is. Never doubt God! Truth”
Both sides were fighting for sole custody of the three children, and both sides claimed victory after the closing arguments.
During the trial, Deion’s attorney criticized his estranged wife’s lifestyle, showing photos to suggest that Pilars is more concerned about her modeling career than raising her children.
Pilar’s attorney countered with alleged photos of steroids and guns in Deion’s bathroom.
Before the final decision was revealed in court, Deion said he was certain this would not be the last court battle with his estranged wife.
“I think the whole reason we’re here is not about kids, it’s about money. Let’s call it what it is,” said Sanders. “They refuted the pre-nuptual. We beat them in court regarding the children and we’re back. We’ll be back again something else.”
