Wendy Williams celebrated her 50th birthday this morning on her talk show, but that’s not all she was celebrating!
She announced that Lifetime’s Aaliyah biopic, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, has found a new leading lady to take on the coveted role of Aaliyah after actress Zendaya Coleman backed out of the role due to “scheduling conflicts.”
The role of Aaliyah will now be played by Alexandra Shipp, who definitely looks the part.
In addition to finding a new Aaliyah, Wendy also announced that her company Wendy Williams Productions has signed on to co-executive produce the project with Debra Martin Chase.
Wendy promised her audience that she’s going to make sure she does this biopic right and with the utmost respect.
We’re definitely excited to watch it now!
