Popstar/Warrior Princess Ke$ha covers the latest issue of Seventeen magazine. In the mag, she opens up about her sexual attraction as well as stands up for anti-LGBT bullying. Check out what she had to say below!
“I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with,” she said. Ke$ha previously talked about her relationships with both sexes in a 2010 interview with Out, “I like people. I wouldn’t say I’m gay or straight – I don’t like labeling things anyway. I just like people.”
Ke$ha also speaks out about her stance against anti-LGBT bullying. “I’m all about standing up to gay/lesbian/transgender bullying, but it’s also about my little brother. He’s 13 and he gets made fun of because he has a stutter. I just have zero tolerance for people making fun of others.”
“Ke$ha’s comments not only serve to inspire and support young people who may be struggling to come out, they also echo the support of a generation that overwhelmingly agrees that every person should be able to love openly and honestly,” said GLAAD spokesperson Seth Adam.
Seventeen magazine has also stood up against anti-LGBT bullying. Spirit Day founder Britney McMillan was a finalist in the magazine’s ‘Pretty Amazing’ scholarship contest. Seventeen’s social media presence went purple for Spirit Day and Editor-in-Chief Ann Shoket wrote a blog post encouraging readers to go take a stand against bullying and support LGBT youth.
