Justin Timberlake has announced what many of us have been waiting for the last six years to hear. He’s officially returning to music.
In a countdown video he released on his website, the singer says:
“I’m the one that sits and is obsessive about it before you even get to hear it,” he says. “As close as I get to it, I don’t think I can physically torture myself that much, year in and year out, and expect it to fulfill me the way that it does and the way that it is right now.”
Timberlake offers that he’s not interested in putting something out that he doesn’t love. “You just don’t get that every day,” he says. “You have to wait for it.”
The video closes with Timberlake entering the actual recording booth, putting on headphones and saying, “I’m ready.”
A source close to Timberlake confirmed to Billboard on Thursday that a new album is coming soon and sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that he has amassed around 20 new songs.
