Earlier this year we reported that NeNe & Gregg Leakes both have a bit of a criminal past, but now more details on NeNe’s past criminal history have been revealed.
In NeNe’s 2009 autobiography, Never Make the Same Mistake Twice, she did admit to an arrest in her early 20s after her friend shoplifted from a mall and police pulled them both over together.
However — that’s not the end of it. Star Magazine did a little digging and here’s what they found.
According to Athens-Clarke County (Georgia) Superior Court documents obtained by Star, the reality star was arrested and charged in 1992 with three felony and one misdemeanor counts of “theft of services” from the phone company. At the time, she was 25 and known by her birth name of Linnethia Johnson.
NeNe settled on a plea agreement, where she pled guilty to all four counts and was put on two years’ probation and ordered to repay $2,650. Over the next two years, though, she was arrested three more times for probation violations.
NeNe has indeed come a long way and everyone does have a past, but when you do have a past involving jail time you have to be real careful about tossing the word ‘criminal’ in someone else’s face. It’s just not a good look.
