Will Smith on Oscars Boycott: ‘There Is No ‘Us’ and ‘Them’

Will Smith spoke on the Oscars controversy during his appearance on The Graham Norton Show and clarified his stance on the matter.

“The media sort of creates the ‘us’ and ‘them,’ and for me there is no ‘us and them,'” he said.

“I’m a member of the Academy. For me it’s more about putting my hand up and reminding the Hollywood community that we have to lead.”

Will believes that ‘only good can come’ of what’s going on in Hollywood right now and rounded out his thoughts by sharing some words of wisdom from his grandmother.

“As my grandmother says, if you lead with love and light, only good is going to come out of it.”
