Will Smith Admits He Was Jealous of Jada Pinkett Smith and Tupac’s Relationship: ‘I Could Never Open Up to Interact with Pac’ [Video]

Will Smith didn’t particularly care for Jada Pinkett Smith‘s close friendship with rapper Tupac Shakur.

Radio host Charlamagne tha God asked Smith, 51, on “The Breakfast Club” on Monday whether he was ever jealous of Shakur, to which the “Bad Boys for Life” star responded, “F—k yeah.”

“That was in the early days,” he said. “That was a big regret for me, too, because I could never open up to interact with Pac.”

Jada and Shakur met when they were students at The Baltimore School for the Arts and had a platonic friendship.

“They never had a sexual relationship, but now they had come into that age where that was a possibility, and Jada was with me,” Will explained.

Jada met Will on the set of “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” in 1994. Shakur died in 1996, and Jada and Will were married in 1997.

In 2015, the actress told Howard Stern that she and Shakur tried to get physical once but it was “the most disgusting kiss for us both.”

Will told “The Breakfast Club” his jealousy stemmed from the fact that Jada held the late rapper in such high regard.

“She just loved him,” he said. “He was the image of perfection, but she was with the ‘Fresh Prince,’ so it was, like, we were in the room together a couple times, I couldn’t speak to him. He wasn’t going to speak to me if I wasn’t going to speak to him.”

Will said Jada tried to get the pair to get along, but the actor admitted, “That was a huge regret of mine. I couldn’t handle it.”
