Whoopi Goldberg Defends Tom Cruise’s Viral COVID Rant [Video]

Whoopi came to Tom Cruise‘s defense on The View after he was caught yelling at crew members for violating COVID-19 protocols.

Whoopi Goldberg is defending Tom Cruise after leaked audio of the star chastising “Mission: Impossible” crew members violating COVID protocol went viral.

“You know, some people don’t understand why he would get so angry,” Goldberg said on Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” adding, “I get it.”

Opining that the seventh installment of Cruise’s now-signature series was “his film,” Goldberg, 65, explained, “You can get a new camera operator — no disrespect to camera operators. You can get a new sound man. But if [Cruise] is looking over and he can see you not doing what you’re supposed to be doing, it’s kind of like a little bit of a middle finger, in my opinion.”

The majority of “The View” co-hosts sided with Cruise, with Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin echoing Goldberg’s sentiments.

“I believe that Tom Cruise was completely justified in doing that,” Behar said, while Hostin suggested the safety violation “probably warrants his rage, his anger, his disappointment.”

Sara Haines was the show’s voice of dissent, pointing out that “Only a Tom Cruise on a set could get away with that … You should never speak to grown adults like the way he just did.”

The Sun obtained audio of Cruise, 58, dressing down crew members who were allegedly disobeying the production’s social-distancing mandate on set.

“They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us,” he screamed. “We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf—ers. That’s it. No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their f—ing homes because our industry is shut down.”

“We are not shutting this f—ing movie down. Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re f—ing gone.”
