In addition to its Queen Latifah-starring biopic about legendary blues singer Bessie Smith, HBO plans to air the gripping story of an unraveling war veteran played by David Oyelowo later this month.
Titled Nightingale, what makes this story extraordinary is that it stars only one character in only one location.
Per HBO:
Directed by Elliott Lester from a screenplay by Frederick Mensch, “NIGHTINGALE” is a provocative drama that probes the darkest corners of a disturbed mind, as a war veteran begins to unravel thread by thread. This searing story of solitude and isolation offers a poignant look at how life has failed one man.
Nightingale airs Friday, May 29 at 9 p.m.
