A few weeks ago, Beyoncé took her Mrs. Carter Show to Detroit. She broke from her normal set-list to perform her rendition of Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come” as a tribute to the city.
The tribute featured a video montage of historical images as well as local musical icons including Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Eminem, Aaliyah, the White Stripes and Berry Gordy, Jr.
If you don’t know, Detroit recently filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy, making it the largest municipal bankruptcy filing in U.S. history.
