Danielle and Aisha Moodie-Mills’ 2010 wedding became the first same-sex couple marriage to be featured on Essence.com.
In the years since, the two have fought for LGBT marriage rights across the United States and have had major impact on LGBT rights in their home of Washington, D.C. The couple made headlines once again this year when they were included in Out 100’s list of the most influential people in the LGBT community.
Danielle and Aisha recently sat down with Amtrak for a mini-documentary about their influence and individual accomplishments. Danielle is the creator of BLIS.FM’s most downloaded show, “Politini”, and CEO of Politini Media, a boutique communications and media strategy firm specializing in content creation and development for those seeking to engage with the New American Majority while Aisha is the President and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute.
During the night of the Out 100 gala, Aisha spent her evening at the Rockwood Leadership Institute furthering the work that she and Danielle do to advocate for LGBT rights. Danielle went to the gala to represent both her and her wife and invited Amtrak along for the ride.
