Usher & Tameka Raymond’s five-year-old son was involved in a serious swimming pool accident that resulted in the little boy being hospitalized. He’s expected to make a full recovery and is doing ‘much better’.
In the wake of the incident, reports surfaced that Tameka Raymond used the opportunity to seize custody of her two sons Usher V and Navyid. The reports turned out to be untrue (she had already begun filing to modify custody prior to this specific incident), however Tameka was granted an emergency custody hearing to fight for full custody of her boys.
She took to Twitter to speak out on the situation.
Usher has also spoken out about the incident, issuing a statement thanking the men responsible for saving his son’s life.
“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering,” the 34-year-old singer said in a statement sent to ABC News by his spokeswoman. “I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being.”
“I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock,” Usher’s statement said. “I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them.”
Little Cinco is still in our prayers.
