Tyga and C.J. Wallace to Star in Season 3 of MTV’s Rebooted ‘Scream’ Series

Tyga has a new job.

Tyga (real name Michael Ray Stevenson) and C.J. Wallace will star in leading roles for the third season MTV’s ‘Scream’ TV series.

via THR:

After setting a new creative team that includes the franchise’s third showrunner joining new executive producer Queen Latifah, production will move from Louisiana to Atlanta. The upcoming season features an entirely new cast, location and premise. It revolves around Deion Elliot, a local star running back whose tragic past comes back to haunt him at the worst time, threatening his hard-earned plans for his future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends. (It remains to be seen if Scream is morphing into an anthology, which the original producers initially considered.)

Tyga (aka Michael Ray Stevenson) will take on the role of Jamal, Deion’s step-brother. Despite hanging out with a rough crowd, he’s got a big heart and an undying loyalty to Deion. Scream is Tyga’s first series-regular role. On the big screen, his credits include Logan and Fighting. He is repped by UTA and Category 5 Entertainment.

Wallace, the son of the late Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans, will play Amir. The character is a good kid whose strict parents expect him to keep clean during high school, stay away from girls and ultimately find his place within the family business. Amir is a socially awkward savant who dreams of making music one day, an ambition he must stifle and keep to himself. But when events make him the unexpected target of a killer, Amir finds himself in over his head and his worldview challenged. Facing death makes Amir reconsider what he wants for his life and the lengths he’s willing to go to find his identity and chase his dreams — should he survive. Wallace, who will also make his series regular debut with Scream, counts features Kick, Everything Must Go and Notorious, playing the younger version of his father in the latter, among his credits. He is repped by Anonymous Content.

Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural) serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside fellow franchise new arrivals including Queen Latifah, Shakim Conpere and Yaneley Arty for Flavor Unit Entertainment. They join original exec producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein for Dimension TV, the late Wes Craven, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad.

Scream’s six-episode third season will air as a three-night event in March on MTV. A specific premiere date has not been announced.

If you cast Black people as lead characters in a horror series, there’s no way they can possibly still die first — right?
