[Update: It Has Repoened] The Eiffel Tower Has Been Closed Indefinitely Following Paris Attacks

The Eiffel Tower has been closed indefinitely in the wake of the Paris attacks on Friday night.

French news agency Agence France-Presse made the announcement earlier today.

“The Eiffel Tower is currently closed until further notice,” reads a banner on the attraction’s website.

Update: The Eiffel Tower re-opened last night, according to ABC.

The Eiffel Tower reopened Monday for the first time since Friday’s attacks. Visitors waited in line to ascend the monument among an increased security presence. Jenae Siogko, of San Jose, Calif., is studying in Paris. She told the Associated Press “all the monuments are slowly starting to open up again. And everything is slowly going back to normal.” At 7 p.m. local time in Paris, the iconic landmark was aglow in blue, white and red, the French flag’s colors. Paris’ motto was projected onto the side: “Fluctuat Nec Mergitur” which means “tossed but not sunk.”
