Back in October, Sevyn Streeter’s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was canceled by the 76ers organization because she attempted to wear a “We Matter” jersey.
After a bunch of controversy, the 76ers eventually apologized and invited Sevyn to return and perform the song wearing the jersey as she intended.
On Friday, Sevyn finally got her chance to perform.
“I’m really excited,” said Sevyn. “I’m feeling great. I’m happy that we were able to turn an unfortunate situation into something positive. I’m singing the anthem tonight. I’m wearing my ‘We Matter’ jersey. I was just able to play with kids from the Boys & Girls Club…I feel awesome.”
