Say What Now? Uber Driver Runs Over Passenger for Talking on the Phone

In just a few short years, Uber has changed the way many of us get around. By now, we’ve heard our fair share of bad Uber stories and have even had a few of own — but fortunately for us, none of ours include getting run over!

24-year-old Sascha Pangallo vows to never use the ride-sharing service again after she claims she was violently attacked by an Uber driver for refusing to get off her cell phone.

Sascha Pangallo, from Queensland’s Gold Coast ordered a car through the ride-sharing service on Friday night after work ‘as I do on the daily’.

However the 24-year-old claims on this occasion she was screamed at, dragged from the car and run over as the driver tried to flee the scene.

‘Yesterday afternoon, I ordered an Uber (as I do on the daily),’ Ms Pangallo wrote in a social media post on Saturday.

‘Little did I know on this particular afternoon I would be stepping into an Uber with a psychotic/mentally unstable driver aka “Paul”.

‘After refusing to put my destination into his GPS he requested my directing (which I had no problem with) however I was on an important phone call and during one of the directions he snapped and screamed at me in a very aggressive manner,’ she wrote.

The Gold Coast woman then claimed the driver continued to scream at her to get out of his car whilst ‘getting very physical, grabbing me and trying to drag me out of the car’.

When ‘Paul’ realised there were witnesses to his alleged violent behaviour and they were contacting police, Ms Pangallo said he ‘panicked’ and sped off like an ‘absolute maniac’.

‘My door was still open as I was frantically trying to grab my bags out of the car and before I could get away I was thrown to the ground and my leg was being run over,’ she revealed.

Ms Pangallo has vowed never to use Uber again despite previously being an avid user of the service
‘I have bruises on my arm and leg and a huge burn/severe skin abrasion from where the tyre ran over me. I am currently in hospital for a suspected blood clot and possible broken leg.

Ms Pangallo vowed despite being ‘pro-Uber’ for a long time, she would never use the ride-sharing service again.

Uber spokesperson Caspar Nixon told Daily Mail Australia the company is assisting authorities with inquiries and that the driver had been removed.

‘We have a strict policy to deactivate any partner that exhibits aggressive or abusive behaviour and we have removed this driver from our platform,’ he said.

‘Safety is our top priority and we will work with the authorities on their investigation. Our thoughts are with the injured woman and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.’

The driver in question held a Taxi category Driver Authorisation from from the Department of Transport and Main Roads which means that they completed a criminal background, driving history and medical check on this person and approved him to drive a taxi in Queensland.

Yikes. This sounds like a lawsuit.
