Say What Now? Sony Hackers Threaten 9/11-Style Attacks on Theaters Showing ‘The Interview’

Things have gone from bad to worse for Sony Pictures.

The hackers responsible for the company’s embarrassing leaks, believed to be the Guardians of Peace (as they call themselves),  are now threatening 9/11-style attacks on theaters showing The Interview, starring James Franco & Seth Rogen.

The Interview is set to hit theaters this Christmas and stars Franco & Rogen as two celebrity interviewers who get assigned by the CIA to assassinate North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un.

Guardians of Peace is a North Korean faction, which would explain why they’re targeting this film specifically.

Their threat, as posted to popular file-sharing site Pastebin, reads as below:

Warning

We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places “The Interview” be shown, including the premiere, how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to.

Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made.

The world will be full of fear.

Remember the 11th of September 2001.

We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time.
(If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.)

Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

All the world will denounce the SONY.

The group has made good on all of their promises so far — leaking embarrassing emails and tons of private, sensitive data belonging to Sony executives and their employees. They’ve also promised a massive data dump for Christmas Day said to

The hackers have already started leaking social security numbers, medical records, movie budgets and execs salaries, and are also promising to “put Sony Pictures into the worst state.”

James Franco and Seth Rogen have subsequently pulled out of all promo appearances regarding The Interview, including  Rogen’s Thursday appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and an interview with both of them on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday.
