A California college student has been sentenced to more than 15 years in jail for repeatedly stabbing both of his adoptive fathers while home on summer vacation.

Matthew Boulet pleaded no contest last month to two counts of attempted murder while admitting to causing great bodily injury during the attack, sparked by an argument between the three family members on July 24, 2018.
Prosecutors said Boulet at one point whipped out a pocketknife and stabbed one of his fathers in neck, torso, arms, face and ears, the Los Angeles Times reported. When the second man attempted to intervene, Boulet, 21 at the time, slashed him with the knife as well.
Both of the victims, in their 50s, survived the violent incident.
“He was very nonchalant when he said he had stabbed his two fathers and that he suffered a wound while doing so,” Los Angeles Police Lt. Mike Kozak told Patch at the time.
“He was very calm about it.”
The Los Angeles District Attorney on Thursday announced Boulet, now 23, was sentenced to 15 years and 4 months in prison.
