Madonna’s known for pushing boundaries and creating controversy, but did the ‘Material Girl’ go too far?
The outspoken 55-year-old caused a bit of an uproar Friday evening after using the N-word in a caption that accompanied a photo of her son she had shared on Instagram.
She posted a photo of her 13-year-old son Rocco Ritchie training in a boxing ring. She captioned the photo:
‘No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disn****’
Of course her fans weren’t having it and moments later she replaced the photo & caption with:
‘Ok let me start this again. # get off my d*** haters!’
At 55-years-old, Madonna should have known better.
UPDATE: Madonna has released a statement addressing the situation via Facebook. It reads:
I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur.. I am not a racist. There’s no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention.. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me.
